In the field of chemical applications, pressure transmitters play a very important role and are widely used. There are many types of pressure transmitters, which can be divided into three categories based on the measurement object: pressure transmitters, gauge pressure transmitters, and differential pressure transmitters. According to different environmental conditions, application conditions, installation conditions, and other factors, the selection of transmitters also has different requirements.
Selection of transmitter types in the field of pressure measurement
The most commonly used pressure transmitters in the field of pressure measurement are medium low pressure transmitters, medium high pressure transmitters, pressure transmitters, and medium low pressure single flange diaphragm sealed transmitters. According to the different installation methods for measurement, transmitters can be further divided into two types: pipeline direct connection installation and pressure sensing installation of pressure pipes. Under low pressure conditions, direct pressure measurement may lead to unstable fluctuations. Therefore, when measuring low pressures up to 500Pa, it is more reasonable to choose a differential pressure transmitter.
The selection of transmitter types in the field of differential pressure and liquid level measurement refers to using the pressure measured by the transmitter to subtract and obtain the pressure difference. In the field of liquid level measurement, measurement results can be obtained through differential pressure measurement methods. The transmitters that can be used in the field of liquid level measurement include differential pressure transmitters, high differential pressure transmitters, flange mounted differential pressure transmitters, and diaphragm sealed double flange differential pressure transmitters. When measuring the liquid level of atmospheric pressure vessels, it is advisable to use pressure transmitters or single flange diaphragm sealed pressure transmitters for measurement as the vessel is connected to the atmosphere; When measuring the liquid level pressure of a sealed container, there may be gas phase evaporation in the sealed negative pressure chamber of the container, or the lower end of the container may be sealed with nitrogen. So when measuring its hydraulic pressure, if a flange mounted transmitter is selected, the negative pressure chamber needs to be guided to connect with the pressure pipe, while if a diaphragm sealed transmitter is selected, both the positive and negative pressure chambers must be connected with a remote transmission flange. For open pools, if there is silt at the bottom of the pool, a single flange sealed diaphragm pressure transmitter can be used to measure its liquid level.
The selection of transmitter types in the field of flow measurement generally includes differential pressure transmitters and diaphragm sealed double flange differential pressure transmitters. Differential pressure transmitters need to be equipped with orifice plates, Annubar and Venturi throttling devices, and the measured results are also related to the differential pressure value. If measuring media such as steam or gas, it is necessary to perform corresponding calculations through secondary meters or DCS/PLC systems to obtain the flow rate value.
Of course, pressure transmitters are widely used in the chemical industry. In the selection of pressure transmitters, it is necessary to specifically consider the chemical characteristics of the application environment, fully consider comprehensive factors such as temperature, concentration, and corrosiveness, and then measure their economy to choose a reasonable type of pressure transmitter to better meet the needs of chemical production activities.
